Allopathic Health Workers

Heart of Asia wants to fund educated young Tibetans to go for a year’s training as allopathic Health Workers at Kamba University in Dartsedo (Chinese: Kangding.)
Our first candidate is Dawa, a teacher who has been working as a translator with the small NGO “Midwifery with Altitude” (http://www.mwacharity.com) for several years, helping them promote safer motherhood.

Dawa with his wife and son.

His training will enable him to teach small groups of volunteers from his area about basic healthcare, hygiene, nutrition, first aid and safer motherhood and also to monitor the health of local mothers and babies. He will also work for Heart of Asia as our local facilitator. His training, including course fee, books, food and accommodation, is costing £1,200.
